Postcard Project for Design and Image: 2/3 Tanner Springs Portland, OR

This Project ended up kind of being a reflection of how I feel living in this city.

For those of you who don't know, I am a born and raised Montanan. The nearest town is ten miles from my house. My home is 30 acres of ranch land with assorted animals such as cattle, horses, goats, and chickens. The neighbors that live closest to me are across a large field. The symbol in between the text is actually the brand for my family's ranch.

I moved to Portland about three years ago now, to go to the Pacific Northwest College of Art. It was a drastic change from my home in Montana. It took me a year and a half to acclimate myself enough to the environment that I could go to sleep without driving around for four hours in my car first. I used to have anxiety attacks before I left the house, and no matter what I do, I still feel like I stick out like a sore thumb among all of the city people. As a result, I cling tightly to every bit of Montana I can get my hands on.

Anyways, the few times that I find myself walking around this city, I've had this image in my head for a while that I'm like an Old West Cowboy in all sepia tones walking around with my horse surrounded by the city and the fancy people in their suits and fashionable clothes.

These are so cool! I love the juxtaposition and the sepia look of them. I used to live in Olympia, WA and visited Portland often. I have a love-hate relationship with it. There's just so many cool things to do there, but holy hell do I get lost easily.
